FA Valve (Humidifier)

What is FA Valve (Humidifier) ?

An FA Valve (Humidifier) is a medical device used in oxygen therapy to deliver moisturized oxygen to patients. “FA” typically stands for Flowmeter with Attached Humidifier, and it is designed to regulate the flow of oxygen from a source like an oxygen cylinder or concentrator while also adding moisture to the gas. This is important because medical-grade oxygen is very dry, and when inhaled directly, it can dry out the nasal passages and respiratory tract, causing discomfort or irritation. The humidifier part of the device usually contains sterile water, and as the oxygen passes through it, moisture is added before the gas is delivered to the patient.

The FA valve also includes a flowmeter, which allows healthcare providers to control the rate at which oxygen is delivered, usually measured in liters per minute (LPM).

Advantages of FA Valve (Humidifier):

  • It adds essential moisture to dry medical oxygen, preventing dryness and irritation in the nose, throat, and lungs.
  • It increases patient comfort, especially during long-term oxygen therapy, by reducing coughing, sore throat, and nosebleeds.
  • It includes a built-in flowmeter that allows precise control over the oxygen flow rate, ensuring accurate and safe delivery.
  • It helps maintain stable humidity levels in the respiratory tract, which supports better oxygen absorption by the lungs.
  • It is compatible with various oxygen sources, including cylinders, concentrators, and hospital pipelines, offering flexible use.
  • It improves the overall effectiveness of oxygen therapy, making it more comfortable and efficient for patients in any care setting.
  • It is made from medical-grade, non-toxic materials, ensuring safety, durability, and easy maintenance.
